Beautiful skies and slick as a mirror seas greeted us before dawn this morning in Dularge. We were on the prowl before the chickens today and the sky cracked when we got to our first stop. First cast and we are doubled up on spanish mackerel. Bummer. 2nd cast we were doubled up on bluefish. I certainly didn't expect this nonsense today and as I was telling my customers we couldn't put up with this, one of them slung a 3 lb trout over the side. Now what? Every 3rd cast produced a trout and the other two were stripped to smithereens. Oh well, no time to play around lets roll. Second stop was surprisingly empty of boats except for one that was slaughtering the trout. I dropped the iPilot within a safe distance and everyone hooked up on the first cast. The bite wasn't exactly on fire because the fish wanted the plastic worked slow, almost not reeling at all. Sometimes they hit it on the fall but most casts our baits were sitting on the bottom. We put a good lick on 'em until suddenly the place went dead. It was only 8:00. There was absolutely 0 mph wind and the tide stood still. We bounced around a few more spots and tried to wait out another bite. At 10:30 we ran to the coast and caught a couple reds and called it a day. Good times and great people! Thanks to Stephen and Brad Burleigh and Ryan Elliot for a great day!
