Default Oyster Warning!!!

BATON ROUGE, LA (AP) - Louisiana's health department has recalled oysters from one Cameron Parish harvest area and has closed it to shellfish harvesting because nine people got stomach illness after eating oysters gathered there.

The Department of Health and Hospitals order Friday recalls all oysters harvested in West Cove off of south Calcasieu Lake since Dec. 28, including shucked, frozen, breaded, post-harvest processed and oysters for the half shell market.

Department spokesman Ken Pastorick said the recall involved about 500 sacks of oysters and health officials were working to find out where they were distributed and pull them from sale. The closure is expected to last at least three weeks.

The department says nobody was ill enough to be hospitalized. It says they may have had norovirus, which causes vomiting and diarrhea.

Great idea....however, dey gonna get stuck on top those oyster reefs when they start expanding! Might damage all those BL fishermen's boats and motors! Maybe W and co. can mark all the bigger ones with pvc pipe markers like they do out of SW Pass! Could help!

Not harvesting or turning them over will end up killing them off eventually.
Hook Mussles will grow on top of them and get more food than them.
There is nothing wrong with oystering, if the state will get off their *** and monitor how it is done.

This happens every year. They shut down the entire Cheasapeke Bay for 5 years due to bacteria, then again for over fishing.
They were getting their Oysters from La. after that.
