Default question for you offshore guys

Around the beginning of next year i'm gonna be looking into getting a job offshore. I know i'm gonna have to roustabout for a while and i'm fine with that because I would like to learn how things work out there. Just wondering if you guys can tell me what the average salary is of a roustabout. No company names needed or anything I already looked online just wanna see how accurate they are. Also, if you were to do it all over again and start off as a roustabout what direction would you go afterwards and why? I looked up basic jobs and their descriptions. Only thing I really seen I was somewhat interested in was motorman and maybe safety, but not if a degree of some sort is required or the particulars on it, any help is appreciated, thanks guys

Just depends on what side of offshore u go into, production or drilling. Whatever the case may be, it's really a choice for you to make once you become familiar with the operations. Best to make it something you can tolerate for 12 hrs. A day..

I'd go with a service company or production. To hell with drilling.

think our r roustabouts make somewhere in the 60's. hard to say what would be the best path. maintenance on these newer rigs isn't bad if you're not into the drilling aspect. I like subsea but it's not for everyone

Good place to start. I started as a roustabout in the late 70's. Got smart and moved into production with a major in the early 80's. Have been working overseas since 2005.
