Default Big Lake 9-27

Got in last night from Germany and the wife wanted to go this morning for a quick day trip! I'm up at 3:45, drove over from H-town, in the water at 7, the morning looked great - a little fog - but cool. Picked up shrimp at the pt and headed south. What a beautiful sunrise. Got to the washout, nobody there but a nice slick running through the center. Water looked pretty clear about 18" down. You could see croakers or pogies or somethin' boiling near the edge of the slick for like an hour.

I threw top water, sand eel, Brown Devil Eye, Gulp, - nothing. Wife boats a nice 28" red, 2 sand trout, 16" spec on live shrimp and I'm sucking wind.

Head to Long Point area and starting working the west side and the live shrimp. Caught this 30", 8# bull at a point and a nice 22" trout. Picked up a few more trout and reds for 5 trout, 5 reds by 10:30. Wind picked up a bit from the west. Headed north, cleaned fish, cleaned the boat and the one of the reds cooking on the half shell as I write this. I know it's not as good as a report or as a trip as Fool but - Life's Good.
