Default Sacalait tournament

OK. guys. The official date for the (Mermentau River Sacalait Slam) will be sat Sept. 29. This will be a split pot tournament meaning half of the entry fees will be donated to the Jennings war veterans home. The other half will be awarded to tournament winners.

Blast off will be at 6:30 am. Weigh in will be at 6:00 pm. There is limited mooring at the ramp so we will meet up in the water for blast off. I suggest launching early.

Tournament M.C.'s will be myself Adrien Ardoin (337) 368-8583 and Ranger go getter, Derrick Picard (337) 254-1155

We will also be taking donations from anyone who wishes to donate. Account info will be posted at a later date.
Anyone wishing to sponsor prizes is also welcome to contact us with sponsorship info.

We do have some current sponsors who will be donating prizes to the winners of all divisions as well as door prizes but more are needed.

Entry fees will be $50 per boat. You may fish alone or with a partner but the entry fee remains $50.

We will also have a trash fish division for the biggest non crappie species weighed in. If you wish to participate an additional $10 per boat will be tacked on to you're entry fee.

We will also have a non motorized division providing we have 10 or more entry's. Entry fee's for this division remain the same. Kayaks, canoes, bass buggies, non motorized aluminum Jon's etc. Trolling motor are paddles only in this division.

Cash prizes will be determined by the number of boats who participate. Sponsorship prizes and door prizes will be announced as the tournament draws closer along with rules and regs.

Flyers will be put out at a later date with all tournament info as we collect more sponsors and info. At this time Derrick and I will be able to email you a copy of the flyer.

Just remember guys you are fishing for a cause, please no Obscene profanity or drunkenness during the tournament or the weigh in.

I'm interested in fishing this event, but why are motors allowed in the non-motorized division? that would put the kayakers at a big disadvantage.

We will be launching at the Mermentau River bridge in Mermentau. We are working on the rules and regs for the kids as well as many others. The electric trolling motors give the guys with bass buggies and Jon's a chance to participate. I would have to imagine that paddling a yak would be easier than paddling a bass buggy, we were simply trying to give any one without a gas powered outboard a chance to fish and help support the vets.

Ok guys a few changes were made as they were brought to our attention. Weigh in will be at 2:00 pm to give the out of town folks time to drive home during daylight hours. Also kids 10 and under will be able to tag along with parents who have no sitter. Derek has the flyer now and is going over it. We will post a link as soon as possible.
