Default New Sponsor - FishingScout App

Please join me in welcoming our newest sponsor Fishing Scout to the SaltyCajun family. Fishing Scout is a free application that is available via Itunes and makes sharing pictures on the water very easy. Please see below for a message from Matt Dobson the creator of the application.

Hello SaltyCajun community,

My name is Matt Dobson, a Texas native who helped create the FishingScout app. Thanks for the opportunity to share this information and introduce myself.

FishingScout is a tool for getting real time information about what's biting, where, and for connecting with other anglers. Below are some key features and stats. There are a bunch of Cajuns already using the app. Wanted to get the word out.

If you have any questions or comments you can leave them below or contact me directly. I hope you'll check it out.

Thanks,
Matt Dobson

Thanks for the welcome!

I'll start by sharing the most recent Louisiana post in the app. http://fishingscout.com/b/oH7I5K

Couple things about this pic.
1. this is the first post I have ever seen with both freshwater and saltwater catches. I'm not sure how this is possible unless it was two trips?
2. I have never seen anyone catch that many bass. Is this common in Louisiana?

It is very possible to do in several parts of the state to catch those in the same trip. Sometimes even the same spot.

Looks like a venice trip to me.

This can also be done in Dularge.

A few weeks ago a co-worker, his dad, and uncle. Limited out on specks (75) bass (30) and reds (15) they also caught some flounder but i dont remeber how many. All on the same trip before 11. They Launched out of Falgout Canal in Dularge.

It can also happen around the Salt Water Barrier!

Welcome to the SaltyCajun! I'm going to have to check this app out.

Swamp snorkler - you're right, this pic is from Venice. Nice call. Honestly never knew you could catch LMB and saltwater fish in the same water.

Here's another from a few minutes ago in Sabine, although I don't see any LMB. Fishing is good right now. Sabine 7-24-12

There's lot of freshwater rivers/bayou's that flow into the coastal lakes and bays and ventually into the gulf. Missippi River, Bayou Lafourche, Tchfuncte River, Pearl River, Bayou Terrebonne, Atchafalaya River, Sabine River, Vermillion River, Calcasiue River, Mermentu just off the top of my head. Where the freshwater meets the saltwater is called brackish water and there's lots of great fishing in brackish water.
