Default Prien 10-30-11

Decided to go to the 210 Bridge and put in my Pelican Boat and see if I could catch a few. Started about 9 am and started fishing under the bridge toward the ship channel. Hook and lost a 4 lb flounder within the first 15 minutes and then it took a while to get bit. Landed one more flounder toward the casino and missed a couple more but no trout or reds. About 3 pm I was on the ship channel and started working the 7-10' depth range and started getting bit. Caught 5 nice trout in the next hour and decided to cross the channel and work the other side. Bait showing up on the depth finder like crazy but no bites. Asked the Lord for some birds working and within 5 minutes a flock of about 50 birds is in the channel dippin and diving 100 yards in front of me. Caught 5 more nice trout and then they were gone. Trolled back toward the bridge and caught a nice white trout. All my fish were on plastics. Had 4 blowups on my Skitterwalk but just slapping at it. Not sure if its a color thing or a presentation thing. I know inchspinner has been wearing them out on topwater so it must be something I am doing wrong. Here are some pics. I am 1 fish short in the picture. Took pics, cleaned the fish and then found one in the ice chest that I forgot. Had 1 over 20" and 2 over 19". Good fishing.

Nice job! I think I saw you out there. I was in a blue kayak and my buddy was in a yellow one. You did much better than we did. I caught three specks before noon, then I lost one at the boat on the way back to the launch around 2pm. Caught 'em all on Saltwater Assassin-Opening Night. My buddy caught one flounder on gulp, and that was it for us.

Coolhand, I did see you guys out there. Ya'll get around in those yaks man. It was tough fishing for sure. Do you guys ever go to Big Lake in your boats? I have 2 trolling motors and 2 batteries on my pelican and with the right wind I think I could do some fishing at Commisary Point or West Cove.

Ray, I have been paying attention to your reports and really appreciate the info you give. It really helps. Thanks.

We go to Big Lake often. I usually put in at West Cove or Calcasieu Point, sometimes Hebert's.

You are a bad person. Why do you have to interrupt our important fishing conversation with your nonsense?
