Cheers Bass Pro coming to the West Side ???

I heard a rumor from people working at a sports and tackle store southeast side Lake Charles (), that Bass Pro had bought some property on Hwy 27 just south of I-10. Anybody know if there is any truth to it.

Just a guess but I would say no. I would think Louisiana is too small to support 3 bass pros at least from the perspective of the kind of profit they are looking for.

i think LC would be a great place for a Bass pro...but it would kill alot of the smaller mom and pop shops......there are enough fisherman and outdoors types in SWLA and SETX to support one with no problem...

Cabelas prices are higher than a Giraffes ***.
Looked an an anchor at Cabelas, it was $80.
Same anchor at Academy was only $60.

I stop at Cabelas on my way home, it is my
lunch and piss stop. Almost 1/2 way between
Venice and Lake Charles. I like it, but don't
like the prices.

Been hearing for a while there Bass Pro was
going to open a place near Lafayette, but
that kinda died I guess.

Bass Pro in LC would be awesome!! I think it would get plenty clientel to support it from beaumont to lafayette and surrounding areas instead of having to go to busy houston or baton rouge

I really don't think this will happen academy would be in a bind. Also think about what this would do to our local tackle shops.

Bass Pro prices are about the same as Cabelas .....about 10 to 20 percent higher.

They said the same thing about the BP and cabellas coming to the B.R. area. It hasn't hurt anyone much. I will not go to either for anything that i can get at a local shop and any big ticket items that you need can usually be found cheaper locally if you shop a bit.
The prices at the big boy stores are way high and they don't stock most of the stuff by local companies.
I would much rather go to acadamey or any other local shop get my stuff and get out w/o all the parking lot walk and being asked to sign up for a credit card every 20 feet.
Only time i go to either B.P. or cabellas is to get something not available anywhere else locally or for seminars.
