Default fishing saturday

I have to go home to lake charles tomorrow, so i have a few questions,

will it be worth even trying to fish saltwater while im home?
if yes, does someone have an extra spot on a boat, or where should i try my kayak at? i know they had a guy caught on big lake the other day in a yak, but 2-3 foot waves in a kayak get hairy quick.......

if no i guess ill try my luck on the whiskey ****to

Not sure what to recommend, if anything right now.

40 people have view this report and no replies says a lot.

I was on Big Lake Wed. and the water color was not good.....except maybe the south end of the lake. Yesterday and last night the winds were high, so the water could be even worse, which makes "catching" even harder.

Last night we got 3.75" rain [just north of Lake Charles] and the radar showes more coming soon, so if areas farther north got that much it could start pushing fresh water into the lake in a couple of days.

Good news is that the wind are suppose to be 4-8 mph tomorrow and Big Lake water will improve.

Your best bet maybe to use your Kayak and try for some Reds in the marsh somewhere along the Calcasieu river.

My dad got 2.5 inches in South Lake Charles early this morning. I went to dump some shrimp heads at a dock in Contraband Bayou and the water was chocolate brown and moving pretty fast. I haven't checked anything else yet.
But it will get better. I am going offshore Tues. morning.

If the weather is good, my wife and her friends are going to Rutherfords Beach to go crabbing in the ditch by the old Cypress Inn.
Since the water looks so bad inland, I might bring my rods and a cast net to see what I can get down there.
We are going just until noon. Marshland Festival is going on at the L.C. Civic Center this weekend.

Ray,

I think we are in the same boat with this weather mess. I went back offshore this morning. The weather usually clears while I'm out here & quickly turns to **** when I get home. Oh well. Another 2 weeks of waiting before I can hit the lake again.

Guess I'm gonna hit up the saltwater barrier in my yak in the morning. Can I launch at the barrier?

Try the bank [marsh grass] on past the barrier across from the camps. It is usually good for a Red or 2 and sometimes some trout. You could get a good "ride" from a Red.

There are lots of under water stumps 10 to 15 feet out from the bank. You also
might have a big gar roll near you....don't get scared.

Another spot to try is the area between the spillway and the locks. It is fairly shallow, but no porblem in a Yack.

Well I put in and crossed the levee behind the barrier and went in the marsh. I hooked up on a nice red about 30 mins in and lost him at the boat. I am almost back to the camps now bit the wind changed and is making it tough. Seen a few sitting in some logs but can't get a bite. It's fun though. Nice breeze
