Default What beaches are open for crabbing/surf fishing?

So what is open, both the beach and the water? I have seen conflicting reports saying that the beach is open, but then you can't get into the water.

What is safe? Grand Isle? Fourchon? Do I need to go west?

All of Cameron Parish beaches are open.
Last weekend I saw surf fishing going on on the West end of Grand Isle.
Just a section of Elmers to about 1/2 way to Fourchon is closed.

I am trying to find the closest to Baton Rouge. How is the beach access at Rockeffeler reserve?

I meant to put this in the regular inshore fishing section if a mod will move it.

Ok, never been that way, we usually hit Grand Isle/Fourchon. What would be the closest beach to Baton Rouge going west.

Going west, the closest is probably Rutherford beach which is south of Creole, LA.

To get there......take I-10 to the Cameron/Chloe exit before you get to Lake Charles and go south on Hwy 387. About 5 miles down, you will hit Hwy 14 at a stop sign [or is there a traffic light there now?], go left. After about another 5 miles, Hwy 14 turns to the left [east] but keep going straight on Hwy 27.

Keep on Hwy 27 until the road comes into another road and you have to make a turn. This is close to the beach. Go right [west] for about a mile and turn left on the road to the beach.

Rutherfords Beach is between Grand Chenier and Cameron, on hwy 82.
It has a big green and white road sign. Can't miss it.
