We get water temps with ours that's mounted as a thruhull transducer. All we did is silicone it to the bottom of the boat next to the bilge pump.

Before anyone says anything, I'm pretty certain the temperature are correct. We've been fishing in extremely cold weather and it'll still read what the water temp would be if we'd compare it to one of the nearby stations.

True, the theory is, if the hull is in the water it will acclimate to the temp of the water. i cant see there will be a big difference in temp.
