The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has re-opened the Elmer’s Island refuge to visitors seven days a week. The refuge will be open each day 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset. The following activities are strictly prohibited on Elmer’s Island: • All commercial fishing • Recreational harvest of shrimp, crabs and oysters • Camping • Night-time access
