The launch at the jetties is technically an East side launch, and granted it is a very good launch but not really a good option for me to fish Calcasieu lake. Its just too far of a drive. Its great for fishing the jetties but I seem to catch plenty of fish without driving that far. Lazy I guess.
While we are discussing boat launches, one of the best fishing lakes in our area is Sabine Lake but what are the options to launch there? Burned out bridge( long boat ride), Deep bayou (long car drive), Sabine Pass ( very long car drive).
You can do what the guides do, run down the Intercoastal waterway (very long boat ride).
