That's whats up Gooh!
Here's a hinge "FIX" Get a 2" flat nylon strap like the truckers use to secure their loads. Cut it 2" long with an old butterknife that you heated up that way it melts as you cutting it. Use that for a "Hinge". It will outlast your ice chest.
