Guess he didnt want the help? Drain first. Hose attaches at the bottom. Look for "gunk". Then go to elwments.

If I remember right, you dont want the elements heating with no watwr in the tank

Yep....turn the power off first.

When I lived in Baton Rouge, I would get a fair amount of "dirty" water from the Hot water heater about every 5 years. Here in the Bluff......water has been supprisingly clean when I checked it.
