I been in the oil field going on 12 years......I don't mind it because of the time off.....You miss a lot of thing but its a great job and supports my family well. Not many jobs you can work half a year (with vacation less than half) and make the money we make out here...
When I think about working on land , there is not many jobs that you can have lots of time off ,most are M-F and off on holidays and weekends (NOT FOR ME) If you stay with a company long enough you earn time off so that is more time with wife and kids...
