A wet & wild start this morning on the DU! It was the 4th morning in a row with stormy weather. We were in no hurry to leave in the pouring rain as we departed from the 'Lakehouse' around 6:00am. We had 3 boats running today as I fished with Poncho Veron,Bill Stagg, and John Chappuis from the Lafayette area. Capts Josh Ellender & Brady Giroir fished with John Pittman & crew from Arkansas. Once we left the boatshed we didn't get a drop of rain the remainder of the day. There were numerous storms off the coast but none were a threat. The yellow-mouths were hungry this morning & ate up everything in sight! Once the seas calmed down the fish went nuts as all 3 boats were whacking 2-3lb trout. Most of the trout were 18-20 inches today. Poncho and the boys caught fish after fish on just about every cast for over an hour. No problem filling our 100 fish limit and left them biting in a frenzy. Capt Josh limited out with 75 turbo trout with many over the 3lb mark. Capt Brady ended up with 50 fish only because one of the crew got sea-sick and they wanted to go in. They were burning the trout every cast when they left. A nice slam this morning on live croakers with 225 fat sow trout before the noon hour. Hopefully the storms won't be as numerous tomorrow morning. You can catch fish like this too! Give us a call and we'll hook you up. Good luck fishing.
