A couple coats of paint would be cheep and easy. Also, paint the floor first thing..... before you get the floor dirty.

For you old man...... use a paint roller with a broom handle so you don't have to get on your knees. Just pour a cup of paint on the floor and spread it around with the roller.

Hint: don't start painting by the door first.
