I have heard stories from before my time from family members about when it was a common site to see many large shrimp boats dragging the lake. In my years of fishing the lake, yesterday was the first one I've ever seen. I'm no marine biologist but it seems that in such a shallow water body, a boat that size dragging a net could actually do some damage to oyster reefs. I know for a fact that the location I saw it yesterday was over oysters....it was one of my favorite fishing holes :/ it looked like it was using butterfly nets, but even if it was, that size boat still drafts a lot for such shallow water.
