Pump some gas from the boat tank into a clear gatoraid bottle and check for phase seporation and/or water. If that is good make sure your fuel lines are in good shape. Sometimes the inner liner inside the fuel line can breakdown and cause a restriction. It very well may be the fuel pump, but check the basic stuff first. Is it a FICHT?

also try pumping the bulb when it starts and see if it keeps it running...this will check to see if you have a fuel flow problem.... and after that start with the 3 main checks, compression,spark,fuel...in that order.

Check the fuel bulb while the engine is running. If there is a leak in the fuel lines that could be your problem.
If the bulb stays "tight".....lines should be ok. Try pumping the fuel bulb while slowing the engine down. If pumping the bulb, keeps the engine running....the fuel pump rubber diaphram is probably bad. Another cause could be that the filter on the fuel pump could be clogged up. Did the engine set for a few months without being used? This could allow a thin varnish film to form in the fuel lines. All these problem are fairly easy to fix......if you are inclinded to do so yourself. Not sure why the engine light came came on...... anyone know? |

It sounds like ethanol has caused fuel lines to rot and cloggedfilter after the fuel pump, diphram in fuel pump, or bad bubble open some line to see id xrystals formed or filter is clogged....drain tank, change line, change filter, fill with 100% gas and add bottle of sea foam....and run it maybe 80 bucks its a cheap start, sounds like the problem, keep us updated good luck.

The bulb does stay firm when it is running and I did leave it sitting for about a month or so. The fuel pump always made a funny noise when I would turn the key to prime the injectors...but thanks for the replies! I am going to go get the boat next weekend and bring it home to work on it.
