I used a brass brush from my 12 ga cleaning kit .I cut down a cleaning rod and put it in a drill .Cleaned it up pretty good. The lube nut is called a cable buddy made by davis instruments. http://www.davisnet.com/marine/produ...asp?pnum=00420
