Where is "Team Broussard"???
Well thanks for all the e-mails & phone calls asking why Kevin & I aren't fishing the HT Tournament trail this year. Let me first of all ease everyone's mind, NO we were not Disqualified, NO we were not refused, & NO we were not turned away. The bottom line was simply Money & Deadlines...As Pat Malone explained to all the anglers during the Captains meeting, there were four teams that wanted to get in on the waiting list. Now Two of those teams that were wanting to get on the waiting list were refused due to infractions, We think this is where some of the rumors might have got started. So lets make it clear,The teams of Robert & Blaine and Cajun Phil & Kevin are not fishing due to Money & Deadlines..
We did have our down payments in on time, but when the Feb.28th payments did not reach Pats desk on time, All our sponsors money was returned, this included our down payment, so this now meant that Kevin & I was no longer even on the books. So after many positive conversations with Pat Malone, we were given until the March 20th deadline to come up with the full amount. Kevin & I began making phone calls to various sponsors, we got & received commitments from enough sponsors to give us hope and confidence, we then got American Rodsmiths check in, but as the time drew near, two of the other promised checks never showed up, and that put us short of funds to pay the full amount and have enough expense money to cover all our lodging, meals, and gas. We called Pat and explained to him our situation, Pat then told us that it would not be fair to the other 28 teams that had got their payments in on time, for him to allow us anymore time..Kevin & I commended Pat on his tuff call and at that point Kevin & I told Pat that we would withdraw from this years competition. Hopefully we can get the time off & find the funds to get in one of the Qualifying tournaments for next year..
We will deeply miss competing in this years Ht Tournaments. We will miss all our fellow anglers, and we want to wish everyone Safe Travels, and Good Luck...Till next time, Happy Fishin' & May God Bless...
