Default fire north of Hebert's.

Anyone know what was burning between LNG and Hebert's. We saw several trucks heading that way and saw the smoke around noon.

FYI, there is now a statewide burn ban in effect according to WBRZ in Baton Rouge.

You are correct and I don't see it being lifted for a while. We need several inches of rain to do any good.

The ban is for all open burning. Just so you know. I doubt that any FD will be out trying to enforce it though.

This past weekend we built a fire in a 6' x 20" high fire ring and the wind was so bad it was whipping ashes out on the ground. We got scared and used the water hose to wet a perimiter about 30' in diameter and doused it out before going to bed.

the last time they had a fire in the area i'll be in ,It was a trailer home and it had burnt to the ground and allmost smoldered out b4 any FD showed up.
30 min out in the woods . If we burn, It will be in a bbl w/ a mesh top .
No use taking any chances.

That's a great idea to use a mesh top...

It's what i have here at home to get around the burn ban. i can allmost throw a rock and hit the FD.
Made a frame out of some old aluminm and use that 1/2 " square mesh wire.

Default Satellite shot of smoke

Looks like whatever's burning it's a pretty good size one. Notice the plume of smoke on today's satellite shot.... http://ge.ssec.wisc.edu/modis-today/...esolution=250m

That plume of smoke is not by Hebert's, that's south of grand lake whatever is burning.
