if you go to court, let us know how it goes. I got a guy wrote me a bad 840.00 check. Havent been able to get a "hold" to him yet.

thats why people shouldn't accept checks especially for high $ amounts, I rather give someone a cashiers check, money order or cash, rather than my bank checking number with my Id info on it. plus I hate it when someone holds on to a check for more than a week and decides to cash it 6 weeks later!

You need to contact the District Atty in your Parish. They can nail his azz for writing a bad check. You may have to hound them, but it will get you paid. Or, when we get a check here at work, we run it through the machine, and it clears immediately, just like cash.
