Hairout Lock up the lawn equip!!!

My good friend had bought a 61' Scag three weeks ago and it was loaded onto his trailer(by the thieves) along with his $600 edger and taken away! Of course, his insurance company is refusing to touch the deal!

I called a friend who works in the lawn business and he told me that his neighbor's 48" Hustler had been stolen along with another lawnmower in Pelican Point...A gated community! This is all happening in broad daylight guys!

Just keep an eye out and keep your stuff locked up! These things are hot right now! My friend's equipment went combined at over $13,000! Again, keep it locked up or it may be gone!

Boy that ticks me off... And even worse that the insurance wont touch it?... Thats bullcrap that you pay to insurance all ya career, but when it comes time forr them to pay up, they gonna find some reason that they wont pay for it.

I had my dirt bike stolen from me before, It was a YZ250 brand new. I had just payed the first note on it.. I ended up having to continue paying the note on it untill it was payed off....

This discusts me.... I would seriously think hard about bringing someone on their LAST "FISHING TRIP" if I would ever catch someone in my yard trying to get something

Do you have to have an additional 'rider' to cover 4-wheelers and lawn mowers? I blame the people that buy 'hot' items ,individuals, pawn shops etc. To me, they're just as wrong as the low-life scum that steals it...

Now i do....

Insurance said they couldnt pay becase I had to have an additional policy if i wanted to cover motorcycles becuse it was concidered another vehicle, Unless it was used for the upkeep of your yard or home "Like a lawnmower, pressure washer, tiller...ect".. Just goes to show that the insurance wont pay for crap.

My bike was even in the shed that they broke into to get to it...

Don't insurance companies have a statement in their policies that say you are covered as long as you don't file a claim ...

My cousins ZTR got stolen, they stole his trailer too. Insurance paid for it a month later, then it was found in Central Texas. Insurance sold it at auction after it was brought back to SW La.

there is a personal articles policy through statefarm that allows you to insure anything cheap (my wife sells for statefarm). I have my tractor, laptop, and big screen tv listed under it just to make sure its covered. And i have a policy on my fourwheeler also but its a different kind of policy.

Good answer Shawn, every insurance company sells personal articles "Floater" policies that cover bikes, lawn mowers, jewlery, ect. If the article is used in a profession such as lawn equipment, they are not personal but "Commercial" and would need an equipment floater. I would be willing to bet that after the adjuster started the claim he found out the equipment was used in your friends profession with the wrong coverage. Have your friend call the adjuster and offer to pay any back premium difference there may be if he will pay the claim. It will be very important for him to not threaten or get irate with the adjuster, killem with kindness is what I always tell my clients. Adjusters get threatened on a daily basis with bodily harm and suit so they have been there done that, it does not scare them one bit.
Let us know how this plays out.
