I realize that and I'm just stirring the pot a little bit. But if they want to talk about "Texas conservation" then they can go conservate (I just made that word up ) in texas. Louisiana's conservation needs are probably a little different than Texas' conservation needs, so they can keep that over there.

I don't think it is a Texas/Louisiana conservation issue. It is a personal issue. It all depends on how the fisherman thinks, or was brought up, or was taught how to fish.
Some fish to eat, some fish for trophies(some keep, some release), some fish for fun/sport, some fish for all the above.
I think there are as many keepers in Texas as there is in La. We just don't read about them in the magazines we get.
It's all about opinion and responsibility. If I can fish every day, I will release more fish. If I only get to fish a couple times a month, then I will keep my fish to eat. I love eating and one of my favorite things to eat is fish.
