Got to the launch just after sunrise. I waited for sun but it didn't help much it's cold!! And very windy! All the water blown out! Low as I ever seen it almost. Only one other boat launched and he went to turners and ran aground all over on the oyster reefs so put his back on trailer as I'm headed out. Honestly I'm movin slow and hesitant thinking of doing same thing. But I been wanting to go up north and this is a day for it. Got to lake charles around 815 or so and by 9 had a dozen trout. Thinking good enough especially on day like this so head back for launch. Decide to fish across from launch a bit since it's still early and north wind blocked. Caught 7-8 trout as fast as I could get back out there. Waived a couple over here to take my spot and I headed for launch and back home for football. Approximately 20 trout caught keeping my 15 and one 16" red. Going back to LC soon that was fun but just as it has in years past it's like a light switch goes off at 9am and they just quit. Want to get in there on a calm day so I can see shrimp jump like the birds can lol. White Cappin by time I got out of there. Trout will stay all winter as long as we don't get lots of rain. Good luck all

O I found a permanent trailer tag in water at launch and left it with lady at Calcasieu point. It's on window seal in live bait room facing out so one can see the numbers walking by. Cleaning fish later and post better pic. Had some fatties both in LC and across from launch.

Dang. We haven't caught a freaking fish yet. Got blasted off the lake again today in west cove. Almost sank my boat on the east side yesterday trying to make it back to Hebert's.

A lot of trout up north for those windy days. Saltwater barrier, Lake Charles, and prein holding fish. Should stay up there til rains come

When I saw the birds feeding today..... I wanted to go get my boat but it would have been dark by the time I got on the water.

Has anyone used the boat launch under the East side of I-10 recently? Is there still a bad drop-off when backing a trailer in the water?

where do you launch in lake Charles?

MEM1971 11-20-2017 04:48 PM

I hadn't ran boat for two months so I left from Calcasieu point. Now I will put in at prein but years back when I fished lake charles I put in under I-10 .

I wish I'd read all these bad water reports before heading out this morning with my three nephews who pretty much have never fished saltwater.

Figured I'd drag them to the weirs and wear them out on winter reds. Nothing.

Ran down to the pogey plant. Hard heads.

Fished around oyster bayou and into west cove. More hardheads on shrimp and zero on plastics.

Back to the weirs to see if tide change had turned anything on. One 18" black drum.

At least we didn't get skunked.
