Best Revo Model? or other baitcaster?

Fishing inshore. Trout and reds. Needs to be strong enough to bring reds in quickly. I have been fishing curado 200e7 but need a new reel.

The 13s reels are too small for my hands.

Whats your thoughts?

TroutSupport.com 08-11-2016 05:01 PM

Man.. that s a tough one. I've been going smaller. Most of the Lews are small similar to the 13s and those are the best 2 out there right now. Some of the diawa's are small too.

What about the old style calcutta's that are round, those are the only ones I know of that arn't small.

Best Revo

RVO3 INS

Revo Inshore..it has 20lbs of drag..

Gasper Master 08-11-2016 09:48 PM

i had an inshore for a short period of time until a fish decided to take it from me... I have an S, and SX, and a STX. Never had an issue with reds, drum, big gafftops, etc, LOL

TroutSupport.com 08-12-2016 09:49 AM

The STX was a nice LITTLE reel... I liked.. apparently the fish like them too since I kicked mine off the side of the boat in 20' of water...LOL.. total accident. Brand new rod and reel was just starting to like it and get it dialed in.. oooopppsss..

I would go lews, the last 2 revs I bought aren't that great. The rocket literally fell apart punching hay grass and the premiere is loud and not that smooth

Lews

I much prefer my revoke over my speed spools, just feel more solid and consistent, plus they are a better fit for my hands.

I have a few of each

captainpirate 08-12-2016 09:07 PM

just get another curado.......

rk3 08-13-2016 05:40 AM

Liking my Revo. Not an issue yet after two years for specks and reds

Broke Down 08-13-2016 08:10 AM

Which model Lew's?

thatguytyler 08-13-2016 11:03 AM

There isn't a noticeable size difference in the revos to lews. Just get a round reel if your hands are that big

If you want to spend money buy you a higher end Shimano because you can not go wrong with it..

best bang for your buck ... Curado or Chronarch

Really? I just threw a those two reels this morning and would disagree

thatguytyler 08-13-2016 03:38 PM

Depends, I throw the bb2s mainly for the bigger spools, definitely not that big of a difference. Now the tourney pros and lews lite are smaller

Try the daiwa tatula.....I got one of the tactical models and they are very close in size to the older 200 e7. I was always a shimano fan but these are better IMO for the money.

I used Shimano for years and love the Green Curado's and White Chronarch's but the ones that the put out now are not the same. I've gone to 13's. The inceptions are 120$ and bullet proof. I've tortured the 3 I have and they keep ticking. They are 8:1 ratio and make working a topwater bait a breeze. I still have a bunch of Curado's and Chronarch's but after using the 13's its hard to go back to them.

I have personally never used them because I have no need to but they are not holding up too good in the "guide life "

I know several guides who use these reels daily and now most are parts of reefs lol

Heard they are real light and smooth just not saltwater ready after a year of fishing or less

Most went back to Shimano and few are now trying the Lews

I guided long enough to know that anytime you give a customer a bait caster you are asking for trouble. I am really hard on my reels but also take pretty good care of them. I have had issues with a couple but I've mailed the back and had a new one in 3 or 4 days. The concept A's and C's are what most guys are using I have had one of each but prefer the cheaper Inceptions. No doubt if I was guiding and a customer wanted a bait caster I'd give them on older model Curado or Chronarch. I just had bad luck with a couple of new Curados and gave up on them because the older ones were so good.
