I do belive Germans will get the rest of my fish.

Forgive my ignorance because I've never gotten a trout mounted... Do they use the fish's skin like a deer or do they make a replica and paint it?

If they paint them, do they make a generic spot pattern and coloration or do they try to mimic the original fish?

I'm just asking because the mount looks slightly different than the fish in your picture but the view is of 2 different sides of the fish so it could be different spot patterns.

Congrats on the fish and the beautiful artwork.

Awesome! Beautiful fish. Nice mount. Congrats.

Looks really nice ! Congrats !

legallimits 03-18-2016 12:55 PM

Looks nice, but the fish you are holding in the boat is much fatter than the mounted one.

Nice!

I would never mount a fish. The picture looks so much better. Take a bunch of photos with different angles, save a bunch of money. Did it with my sailfish and rooster fish in Costa Rica.

I was a taxidermist for 16 years, full time. You can go either way on skin mount or replica. Trout skin has a lot of oil in it and does pose problems but I always preferred doing a skin mount on them. The spots on the trout remain after the mount is dried but are lighter and I always chose during painting to hit the same marks that the fish had, if the fish lacked many spots I would add a few if it would make it look better but seldom did I need to . The mount looks good, the color is a little off. They are a challenging fish to paint and get the color back right.

Clampy, Congratulations on a great fish.

Yeah. The mount came out a little thin.
She was really fat.

How much does something like that cost to have mounted?

Top Dawg 03-20-2016 11:04 AM

Very nice fish. Congrats on the trophy.

NoTiltTexan1 03-20-2016 11:13 AM

Dat true, they are different...one dead and the other is alive.

Wow, she was a thick one, I'm assuming that's not a Texas fish.

Beautiful fish and great mount.
