Fishing around the north shore

Can anyone help me out with some good fishing spots around the north shore or not too far off from there? I've recently gotten back into fishing after years away from it. I don't have a boat so I would just be fishing from the bank and would really like to be able to find a spot to catch some trout and/or redfish. Any help is appreciated.

I've tried a few spots over that way but haven't had any luck, maybe the fish aren't really biting this time of year around there? I tried around Manchac and then Madisonville at the mouth of the Tchefuncte River.

Thanks for the reply! What kind of setup do you usually go with? The other day when I was fishing near Madisonville I tried for an hour or so with a popping cork and a Vudu shrimp, and then I went with a Carolina rig using the same Vudu shrimp. Is this a good setup for trout or redfish?
