Where would you launch...

I live in Broussard and like to fish Tiger Shoals. I usually haul the boat down to Cypremort Point State Park landing and head through Southwest Pass. That is a fairly long boat ride.

Are there any other landings that you would recommend I try to cut down on either the bumpy *** drive down 90 or the 12 mile boat ride to the pass?

Thanks in advance

Intracoastal City, Dons, or Delcambre are the only other ramps I know of to avoid 90, unless you want to drive to Freshwater City. You could launch at Burns Point to get closer to the Gulf

Freshwater city is paved all the way from 82 to the launch. Much shorter run than from ICY or the point but if you get there and it is too rough outside you have no other places to fish on that side of the locks.

This, we make the drive to FWC when we know we are going all out for trout.

If I was a little closer to that end I would prob go out of Burns point and fish that end more. Still have shell pads where some of the good platforms used in the Eugene Island blocks.

i would launch out of Intracoastal City personaly because like mentioned above you have more places to fish if the wind kickes up and you can't make it out tie TS

Thanks for all of the help, gents. It always is fun to launch at a new landing and see a new place! I hope to provide a report tomorrow afternoon.

It's the same driving distance to either cypremort point or ICY from Broussard by vehicle.

Also it is the 15 miles driving distance from the point to s.w. pass by boat and it's the 18 mile driving distance from ICY to s.w. pass By boat.

Now I launch based on what the wind is doing. Calm slight chop days. Launch a the point.

Choppy to ruff but not crazy days ill launchat ICY and stay on the inside on the way to ths pass.

Alphaman, I always thought that the area where you show running to the point from ICY by boat in your last post was pretty shallow water. Is it safe to run that area without worrying about water depth much?

alphaman 07-02-2015 09:03 PM

Thats point is red fish point. Nothing to worry about at all.
Don't go to the wier that's on that point. It's all mud

Nothing to worry about. If before daylight you can actually follow the nav lights. Ships coming from pass use that to get to ICy.
Just watch out sometimes a light will be out and you won't see the post in the dark....

Also if it's too choppy you can take this inside route as some may call it. Attachment 90417
