Power pole

Thinking bout getting a power pole, does any of u guy have one? I want to hear the goods and bads about them and is it really worth spending the money!!!

i don't have one, but one time we were having a lot of trouble anchoring on a shell reef with a lot of current and all of a sudden a guy comes through with his powerpole.. presses the little button and boom he was stuck right away. Pissed me off!!

There really is not any downsides of a power pole besides the price. We have installed a few of them and everyone loves them. They do take some getting use to though...you have to position your boat a certain way depending on the wind and tide or it will turn the boat around. Im about to put one on my boat soon, its just too nice to not have to fight a anchor in the tide and wind.

Love to get me one....hopefully soon

Best you could add to your boat for fishin in shallow water...I swear by it...

You'll love it!!!! I've had one for 2 years now & haven't broken it yet (knock on wood) & it's been in a BIND several times.

I had my head up my butt on the ship channel one day & didn't pick it up when a BIG ship came by & the water sucked out & came back in liked to have tied that p/pole in a knot! Still their! That's on a '24 skeeter & it's HEAVY!

There is only one bad thing about powerpoles, if you have a big fish on and he decides to go inbetween the boat and pole your gonna either lose the fish or break a rod if you dont get it up. You really cant pass a rod under it like a anchor rope or trolling motor if its down a good ways. Ive learned from experience after a few rod tips.

do the 8 ft for sure and also get the remotes you will regret not gettin em. what size boat do you have ?? i have mine (8ft) on a 20ft

c_harold09 12-15-2009 10:55 AM

A definite must have on any boat. Only regret I have is not having the remote. I would go with the 8 footer. But let me tell you dont expect to be able to use it in 8' of water. Maybe more like 6.5'

catch.and.fillet 12-15-2009 11:34 AM

8 ft. remote controlled. on dash button.

Now getting a price for my second power pole and option to remove a useless swim ladder.

Ray 12-15-2009 11:48 AM

How would an 8 ft'er look on a 19 ft. boat.
Where I fish in the spring and summer, it
is 6 ft. to 7 ft.

Jordan 12-15-2009 11:55 AM

ray, ur redneck anchor rod works perfect..

Ray 12-15-2009 12:04 PM

I know. I just like to dream big. It prolly won't fit under the garage with the power pole.
I already have to take down the grab rail and windershield to get it in there.
