Suzuki DF150SS vs DF150
 

Does anyone know anything about the DF150SS? Its got a different paint scheme from the regular DF150 but that's all the difference that I can see. I saw SS version at one of the boat shows recently. Anyone who deals with these know?

suzuki has had serious corrosion problems in recent past, might be something to look into before deciding on a suzuki

just saying check it out

I heard the same thing but was told that was a problem with the earlier models, 05 and under.

I didn't ask about corrosion because I'm not worried about corrosion with these motors. I don't think its an issue. I am asking about the difference between the two motors. That's it.

They are exactly the same. The only difference is the paint job. The article i read said "They wanted to make the motor more appealing to the bass fisherman". I wish my 175 had a paint job like the SS. that would look good with my red frontier

The 250ss is not the same as the regular df250. I have not seen the speck on the 150 ss to compare to the 150.

The 150SS model is nothing more that a different color than the standard 150 and performance is the same. The 115SS specs out the same as the standard 115 but has been tuned up a little in the computer. There is a 2-3 mph diff on the same boat with a little more low end on the 115SS.

Ok the reason why I asked is that im buying 2015 Bluewave Purebay 2000 with a Suzuki 150SS and Atlas jackplate. I think I was told it was hotter than the regular DF150.

I would just ask the dealer to print the specs from suzuki on both motors.

I don't think there are any differences between the DF150SS and the DF150 like there are between the DF250SS and DF250. All the numbers are identical. The only difference could be the tune programmed into each. That's what I'm wondering about at this point really.

I know on the older motors when the specs were identical it was just the ecm made the difference. it just ran more advanced timing and dumped in more gas to turn the same engine into a larger hp motor.

I was told by the dealership that if I wanted my 40 to be a 50 I just had to buy the 50hp ecm and plug it in and that's it. the guy said several models were like that but i don't know if that's still true today but if the specs are identical then that's probably the only difference, the ecm tuning.

Yea it would be nice if some mechanics or people with experience with these motors would make some comments.

a dealer did note earlier in this thread that performance was the same on the 150

What boat are you gonna put it on? What do you want out of the motor? Low end torque? Fuel efficiency? Top end speed?

Why the Suzuki?

So in short, if you want to turn the 150HP into a 150HP, all you gotta do is change the ECM.
