Power Pro vs Power Pro Slick

What are the differences? Thanks :)

The slick stuff is smoother and is better on spinning outfits.
I like the original for bass fishing and heavy cover.
I use the slick for everything else

i used the slick and loved it, but after a few trips it started breaking. a friend said my guides were cutting it, but they don't cut the original PP.

I use 10lb on my spinning reels and catch good size fish and change about twice a year.
I seriously have never broke off a fish on it. I've broke leaders that have abrasions on it but never the main braid.
But I've broke 65lb with frogs for bass.

Also the slick floats better than braid so you can use for tops and twitch baits and it doesn't pull the baits down further than you want them to go.

Is the diameter any different in the two of equal strength??

SuperDave 01-22-2015 09:31 PM

I prefer the original PP.

I got nothing but wind knots with the slick...thought it was because I was #slapfull on line but pulled some off and kept getting them so it will be regular pp from now on

That's strange. That's why I use it. I don't get wind knots with it.
Fins Windtamer I'd good stuff too

Slick is thinner I think.

cajunwader 01-23-2015 09:47 AM

Braid

I have used all of them. Fins Windtamer out performs them all!!!!! 20 lb 6 dia - Casts close to mono & almost on wind knots!

capt hoop 01-23-2015 10:46 PM

I have switched to slick. smoother and casts farther.

Smooth Move Your guides might have a scratch, chip, or crack that the thinner slick got cut on. It is just as tough as the PP of equal strength. Has to be your guides. Due to it being thinner and smoother there is more of a chance to get wind knots. I have not found them to be that much of a problem though.

Do you use a leader?

RichWentFishing504 01-24-2015 02:23 PM

Powerpro slick doesn't work well with bob stops. I use both.
