White Beans Cookin'
Yesterday I had a pot of white beans cooking for dinner. Let 'em soak overnight http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/...3/DSC05992.jpg Just the beginning of simmering. I may have put too much bell peppers in there. We'll see how they come out. http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/...3/DSC05994.jpg This was one of two loaves of Italian bread I made Sunday. This would be good with the beans this evening but it's gone. Maybe I'll make some biscuits. http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/...3/DSC05985.jpg http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/...3/DSC05989.jpg Beans are cooked and time to make some biscuits. The wife made some thin cut breaded pork chops in the oven that went perfectly with the beans. http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/...3/DSC05999.jpg http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/...3/DSC05995.jpg Biscuits hot out of the oven. These were some of the best I've ever eaten! http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/...3/DSC06001.jpg My plate for dinner with a lil homemade jalapeno pepper relish on the side. http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/...3/DSC06006.jpg Quite possibly the best white beans ever eaten! http://i1183.photobucket.com/albums/...3/DSC06009.jpg |
Man you left out the best part. The sausage, tell me about the sausage.!
|
Glad you asked. Usually I use a good smoked sausage or more often than not an andouille and tasso from Laplace. My cousin has mentioned several times that he uses Kielbasa made by Hillshire Farms. So this time I picked up a pound of HFK and tried it. I was really surprised at how good it was. I do like that rich smoky flavor from andouille but this batch of beans was really fantastic!
I'm a new fan of Hillshire Farms sausage. |
Gonna have to try that I always thought that was for northerners that didn't know what real sausage was. Lol

IF I make it to heaven........they will serve white beans
