Avery island dead end canals?

Whats up fellas just curious to know has anyone of you ever fished those canals around the island? Is it shallow in around there, I know you can launch your boat there also.

i don't know exactly the canals you are talking about, but I know those canals, where you can launch in delcambre, have some bass in the dead ends. I haven't caught them myself but I used to work at Shaw right there and some of the guys would fish and do well

private

most of the canals close to the island like that are posted, we used to fish them years ago, good bass fishing in there, the mckilhenlys put up a bunch of "private canal" signs about 8 or so years ago, i don't know if there are any left to be able to explore, i think they only left the main canal open from the launch to the bay, used to be able to squeeze under the bridge(small flatboat) and fish the back too, that ain't happening anymore

See I don't understand how u can put posted signs in the water. U don't own the water. I never seen that in Florida. Only around here.

they are not natural bodies of water. Were once land and had canals dug for oil/gas. Still own and pay taxes on the "land" even though its underwater. They are now tidal bodies of water which is confusing because most places tidal waters are public but they are not natural.

However, there are people that post things that they shouldn't just to try and keep something to themselves.

Makes sense. But still kinda sux

At Avery Island, the boat ramp points toward Avery Island, but do not cross the bridge between the boat ramp & Avery Island. McKilhenlys does not like boaters cross the bridge, I (not knowing this) got my butt chewed.

you talking about the driveway bridge to the houses, or the roadway bridge on the island? i go in that canal along side the road often to catch mullet and no one has ever told me anything, its been a long time since i have been under the road bridge cause you need a little boat and a low tide
