ATV starter staying engaged

2 Attachment(s)
Yamaha ATV starter is staying engaged. Changed out the solenoid but still sticking. I can tap the wires around the solenoid and it stops. What is the problem? Bad connection somewhere?

Probably bad connection. Had a Big Red years ago that had a bunch of crud built up around the starter button on handle-bars that ended up being the problem.

Is it a hung starter or engauged starter meaning is there still power to the starter after you press the button and release it you need a meter to check this. If after you start it and release the start button and there is no power on the starter leads then the spur gear retraction spring in the starter has probably failed. If ther is still power on the starter leads then its not your starter. Check the excitation leads on the solenoid if you have power there as well af6er button release check button as earlier stated

Possibly the relay getting stuck causing it to keep electricity going to the solenoid?

Thanks for the replies. Took everything off and cleaned all the terminals and tightened everything and now good to go, musta been bad connection
