Weeks bay

Me and my brother made a morning trip out to the trash pile this morning and tryed a few other spots around the marsh side and around the intercoastal and couldnt even catch hard heads lol. We fished for 4 hours and only caught a gaftop. We have fished in big lake for over 15 years and decided to start fishing around the point since its so much closer to home(gas is expensive). This was our third trip out and i am just trying to figure out if they just arent here yet or if we just need to explore a little more. Im not asking you to tell me where the honey holes are im just asking for a few pointers in the new area. Thanks in advance

Yeah, went to weeks bay yesterday afternoon to scout. Trout don't appear to be there just yet. the normal patterns are running a month behind this year so the pass is the best bet for the next few weeks. Watch for the water temp to drop.

Guy told me there is a reef named Caldwell that has been producing fish on every cast. We are going tomorrow and everyday next week if you want to follow us. I have a 16' Carolina Skiff with a red t-top. We will have seven other boats, mostly Boston Whalers, so if you see us, say hello. Hear there are shrimp in the area too, so another buddy is going to be trawling nearby while we fish.

Is the reef named after you or any of your family?

Lol No dapoint i guess its just coincidence but that sounds like a good place for me to start! I have a hook and line map and i seen caldwell reef on there but the problem is i am fishing out of a 16 foot flat bottom boat for now and im trying to avoid having to run across the bay. I have been following yall on the forum for a while now and appreciate the feedback

That 16' flat is plenty nuff for the bay. Mine is 16' also with a 70 hp Force, just have to put the icechests longways and have my buddies sit on the icechests. It gets rough sometimes but I like jumping them waves, reminds me of when we used to jump them ricefield levees with our Honda 125 three wheeler. YOLO is what them kids say! Just got a t-top on mine. Had a bimini on it but tore it up pretty good. Had a big pyramid weight and double treble hooks on my dead shrimp and reared back my 11' surf rod and ripped the heck out of it with those trebles. Wife was mad I almost got her. Friend had a t-top off his old whaler he gave me. Kinda big but gives me some shade on those long hot days we spend out there. My bucket of shrimp gets to stay in the shade now. I don't think the fish like the shrimp that sit in the sun too long. That reminds me, I better get the shrimp out the freezer and start thawing them for tomorrows trip. We plan on tying up to that channel marker at Caldwell by daylight. Gonna try and limit myself on these natty lights tonight so I don't sleep in tomorrow morning lol

anybody know why there is a 16" size limit on black drum? I catch a bunch of 14" puppy drum and would like to keep more

Yall just circle the reef. Just make sure you chunk anchors at the same time. Oh yeah and slap full of 80# power pro.
