Orange beach / gulf shores

We will be over there for a week while Mason (my younger son) plays in the usssa World Series event. We have a couple of open days. Do any of you guys have a handful of fishing charters that you would recommend for us? I will have my wife with me and our 11 and 8 year olds. All are experienced fishermen.

The shark fishing on the beach should be good right now. lol

But really, we went last year with this guy. He runs a good boat and worked well with my sisters who aren't that great of fisherwomen. lol

Bottom fishing or trout/red?

There are some nice bottom fishing boats at San Roc Cay..........they grill on the boats for lunch and are well kept...

Steve Tommeny is keeping two of his boats there now......

Trout and Red.......I would call Zeke's or Sportsman marina's for suggestions.....but the trout that time of the year in that area seem to come at night

The guy in my post actually guides out of Zeke's. He gave me his card to help plan better rather than going through Zeke's like we did last year.

What weeks are you guys playing? My son played here two years in a row, was a great time but not much of a vacation.

ckinchen 06-10-2014 12:50 PM

The tournament starts on June 23rd, we are hoping to be there all week. He plays on Dynasty out of Kingwood, 7U AAA.

We are open to night fishing, bottom fishing, trout/red. We do it all.

Please post the fishing results, We are vacationing there Aug 8-12. Towing my boat, so we will be winging it and any advice will be useful.

Just a little FYI opening ceremonies in my opinion is a waste of time

We'll be out there that week with our kids along with some friends and their lil girl. We're staying at Carribe.

Very cool, what team and age group?

longsidelandry 06-10-2014 04:38 PM

Not for baseball, just for vacation.

Get a charter out of Pensacola Beach, only a short drive from OB and Florida
State Waters ( 9 miles out) are open for the Elusive American Red Snapper
until July 15. Plus plenty of other great eating species. Leave the Trout fishing
mindset to your fishery in Louisiana. Call Clay @ Hot Spots Charters 850-449-5555
They have @ six Captains that fish near shore with up to four anglers. I assure
you that you will have a great fishing trip.

If you go out of Pensacola check out Doubled Up Charters with captain Cory Maxwell. Went with him a few years back and was very impressed!
