Will recent FW effect redfish bite in Vbay?

We all know the large influx of rain in VBay will effect the trout for a while.

How will the freshwater and lower salinities effect the redfish? Will it push them further out? Will they stay but the bite will stop?

Redfish stay in the bay 12 months a year. The rain might scatter them some but there not far. It messes up us fisherman more than it does the redfish that's for sure.

I'm going tomorrow all day. I'll be on the water at around 9. All this rain will be done by then.

yep, redfish pretty much don't care if the water is clean or dirty or salty or not, but how aggressive they are might adjust a little

Key word agressive . Cats will be moving more than reds. Reds do hunker down and school less after rain. But is it due to cats moveing? They feed the same way. But reds will clean up after um. I find with less fresh water reds become more agressive then cats.

Thanks for the input guys, maybe a good time to get some house chores done but I also believe the rain effects the fishermen more than the redfish.

They should be still hanging around might have to look for them a little harder than normal. They might not be quite as aggressive as they usually are but they will still be there.

Not unless there is a big push of fresh water coming through the ICW...which I doubt this rain. The rain directly in shallower marsh ponds can move the fish around because it will move the bait (shrimp/ shad) around. It might push a few more on to the main bay shoreline instead of being in the marsh. Go fishing.

Ya man go fish! You guna catch sumtin . As was mentioned look for tha bait.

If the weather holds off I will be in the bay sunday looking for redfish and anything else that bites.

Thats my plan too, but the backup may have some catfish stuff to see if that works, want to catch something.

For cats I cast net for shad and use a double hook rig set 1 foot from weight . Fish around piles for rig heads or any ware that would hold fish that ambush.

Got some nice meat that way.

Reds might be tailing in afternoon around 4 or 5 off west side. East side for trout if water starts to move in.

You catch lots of Gaffs that way too? Do you do this at Dry Reef? May run up into Weeks, I like Avery and Commercial. Prob head to Marsh Is to see if my favorites are holding.
