My 8 year old got it good, poor fella. Anyone run across one of these? It was the closest I could find.

I have seen a few that looked close to that but they had more brown in them. Looking at the rash I will be sure to keep away from them. Hope he is ok.

This article this past week in the Baton Rouge Advocate addresses caterpillars and some home remedies for treating stings. Hope it helps.

Man my godchild stepped on one in the yard this weekend. It didn't look like that. It was fatter and had more hair on it. He foot got red and has several little bumps on it. She cried like crazy for a little while. I just put some chew on it to draw the sting some and then an ice pack. She was back to playing in less then 30 minutes.

Great article, lots of practical advice. BT is great stuff to kill the catepillars.

One thing the article missed is that Benadryl (or the generic equivalent) can be effective in treating allergic reactions that may result from the poison. The generic equivalent is diphenhydramine hydrochloride. There are topical ways to apply duphenhydramine hydrochloride also, but they should not be used together with the oral medication.

Of course, always read and follow the labeling requirements.

Those things hurt so bad. Thats a tussock moth, the black ones are buck moths and they hurt just as bad. Kid sat on one last year and cried for an hour, I was thinking he was being a little overdramatic like his mama and then I brushed up against one the next week and I changed my views.
The 'stingers' will stay in and you have to get them out, someone told me to put masking tape over the sting and then pull it off to remove the hairs and it seemed to work. Feel sorry for little man

Do the words "Don't ask, don't tell" mean anything anymore?
