Any Traditional Archers?
Anyone into traditional archery? Just started shooting my first recurve and its fun as hell. Its nothing fancy at all but it does shoot good. At least for someone with no experience. Any tips from experienced guys would be greatly appreciated.
I have shot compounds for many years but this is a whole new ballgame. Its a helluva lot of fun though. John

Work on your muscle memory bro..
2-3 arrows 2 to 3 times a day... Keep your hold exactly the same each time... 3 point rule... (make sure you are tucking your hand under your jaw the same way each time, make sure you touch the string with you lip in the same place.. (a kisser button is a good cheat to start out with for traditional archery shooting) and and loose grip... (not open hand... just loose dont squeeze and torque the bow)
other than that.. just think of things in the same way that you think when your throwing a football...

See the target and only the target. My best anchor is the end of my index finger touching my cheek bone under my right eye. When I can keep total concentration I do good. Its just hard to keep 100% focus. Need to just let my hands and eyes do what they do.

after you develop that muscle memory you wont have to "focus" as much... but until then... yeah.. keep it up.. :)

I tried to shoot my bow open sight one time. Sailed the arrow over the target through the crack in my wooden fence and I to my neighbors lawn mower hood.

When a fence is involved I have learned two things. An arrow will always find a gap when you dont want it to and a bullet will always hit the fence wire when you dont want it to.lol

Yep. Nothing like seeing $15 disappear and never be found. Put a new release loop on once and obviously didnt tie it right. At about 3/4 draw the knot slipped and arrow (with broadhead) sailed off to never never land.lol. Thankfully it launched into the woods.
