Rest in peace old friend

Finished cleaning my black pot last night and put it back on the burner to get the moisture out when I got busy with other things until I heard a loud pop. Crack all the way down and along the bottom. I'll try and weld it back, but I'm not confident it'll last.

Damn man that sucks.
What was his last meal? |
Chicken and gizzard fricassee. He went out happy!

man.......that brings a tear to my eye........
My dad "Braised" one a long time ago.....I remember by brother and I holding torches to keep the pot in that area hot.....it was a big 30 gallon......uncle stills cooks in it now. |
I've patched several older large pots over the years, but this one looks like a bad cast. Lots of impurities in it. I'll give it a shot because it was a wedding gift and I've used it at least once a week since the day I got it.

Damn I had been avoiding this thread because I thought someone died.lol. I just dont deal with that well. Sucks for you bro. That was a fine looking roaster. Good luck on building a trusting relationship with your replacement pot.

The Old Hickory knife was a good send off for your old friend.
Happy cooking grounds will welcome him. |
That's a terrible loss!
My condolences are with you at such a devastating time! R.I.P. YOU OLD BLACK IRON BEAUTY! :( |
Had to reset my account so I'm new again, I thought a dog may have passed, did'nt want to see that. But never had that happen to a pot before.
|
