Things Changed

I was set to run on a private boat today but the 25-30 mph winds were not laying down. Just about everybody canceled offshore. Some waited till late in the day. Lee's customers still wanted to fish so I went home and got the bay boat. This took about 1 & 1/2 hours so we were leaving the marina at about 9:00.

My customers were Chris and Leia. They are from California and follow my posts on Bloody Decks. We ran down the cold 38.7 Deg. river and the other passes and cuts. I was starting to get worried because all the way the water only got up to 39.2. As I entered the what we call ponds I was greeted with muddy cold water. I could see several changes of color across the bay. 300 yards in and the water was up to 45 Deg. In the back the water was 49.2. We tried some places and nothing happening. The wind was cold and blowing but the sun was warming the shallow dark water.

Chris was the first to hook up. Good thing he did. I was ready to make another move. Another 15 minutes of nothing then it is Leia's turn.

Suddenly things turn on and the box starts to grow.

We even doubled up twice. It was fun and things were on fire.

We kept the 10 limit and I took 2 for myself. Once we started releasing them the bite ended as quickly as it started. Although early we were ready to get out of the cold wind and headed to the dock. We unloaded the redfish which were very close to each other in size and hung them for a picture.

Have to make another trip tomorrow and will be working the same place. Hope lightning strikes there again tomorrow.
