new Orleans rental advice

My wife and I are taking the kids to new Orleans in a month and we want to rent a house through vrbo. Any advice on what areas are good and which ones to stay away from. Thanks we don't mind being in metarie, kenner, etc.

How long are you staying?

You getting close to Mardi Gras and prices will be going up.

You can go 2 streets over in NOLA and go from Ghetto to Mansions

My wife and I also go to NOLA for an extended weekend every spring. I stay uptown near Audobon Park. We try to get close to the zoo so we can walk there. Also, I like that area because of the convenience of walking to nearby shops and restaurants.
