Maybe Im Just An A-hole?

It really gets under my skin when your generosity becomes expected.
Case in point....
Our fishing trip last month was awesome and we ended up with 40lbs of redfish fillets. We kept about 12lbs and gave the rest away to friends and family. We like to share when we are blessed. However I gave a bag of fish to a guy I work with(not a friend just a guy) and today he asks when im gona bring him more fish. He isn't getting fish from our weekend trip just because he expected it. Maybe im just a A-hole though.

you're not an a-hole bro. you're the whole A!! lmao j/k
i don't blame you one bit. i'd tell him when he pitches in for gas, bait and your time cleaning them, then he can have some.

MathGeek 12-30-2013 10:37 PM

We share our fish with just about anyone who asks.

Trouble is, some folks don't understand that those who ask receive, but those who expect/demand/drop hints do not receive.

Msucowpoke51 12-30-2013 10:38 PM

This has always been my biggest pet peeve ... All I want is to be appreciated not expected .. I get bent out of shape quick when you expect me to do nice things

Sightwindow 12-30-2013 11:05 PM

Just ignore and don't work yourself up over it. The guy's definitely not worth your time.

This is true. He will be seeing me give out a few bags of fish to some people that were very grateful for their last fish but never asked or expected anymore. I love sharing when we are blessed with fish but to be expected to share really gets me. Like MG said, the more they expect the less they get.

I had a neighbor I had ask if they wanted some flounder. Her question was "are they cleaned"?

jjam 12-31-2013 12:09 AM

Not an A-hole,

I would just ignore his request with a freindly smile, not gonna get me upset over something I enjoy.

If he persist then I say,

"Sorry we didn't catch enough to give to everyone whom may ask/demand"!

The end!

Jimmy

This guy is not an outdoorsman, he does not realize what it takes to put them filets in the zip lock bag. I have quite a few guys in my subdivision that do the same thing, and they all have no chance of getting any speck filets from me.

The "are they cleaned" line is a classic.

BuckingFastard 12-31-2013 07:18 AM

Maybe he was just trying to have a little fun and tried joking with you. i would have asked the same question.

Some people aren't good at saying thank you, at all. Coulda been saying he appreciated them, without saying he appreciated them...

Guess you gotta read the person to make the call

That's funny. I give fish away a lot and it's always cleaned but that's a lame question.

Kind of like when you invite a buddy to go fishing and he asks if they are biting.....really? C'mon dude, can't we just go fishing.

Or, you invite someone over to eat and they ask what you're cooking,

Some people.

BuckingFastard 12-31-2013 08:57 AM

yea, makes a difference if he was your friend or just some random guy. but he still could have been trying to be friendly/joking. guess its one of those things where you had to be there.

swamp snorkler 12-31-2013 09:05 AM

Or when you boil a $100 sack of crawfish and they bring over a king cake and call it even.

You would have to know this guy. A joke is above his IQ level. It takes all the brain power he can muster just to follow his push broom. I know that sounds bad but its the truth.

L M A O! As bad as that sucks I just laugh at it when it happens. I just figure math was never their strong suit.
