Where I will be building my house is 1/4 or more off the highway. I feel as I'm always adding flat rock and filling holes to my grandmaws rock drive and rather use something else for my drive. I know asphalt and concrete will be expensive but lasts many years if taken care of. Any ideas or past experiences would help.

Turtle back what you have now so there are no holes and standing water. If that doesn't work cement wash is the ticket if you can get it. Call the cement plant and see if they will sell you some. I think it's washout from the trucks, but it's in a powder form when you get it. Put the down and turtle back it and you will be done.

Ive used a lot of cement ash to cover my whole property at my nursery. It works good, just the worst dust storms you will ever see.lol It pretty much has to be capped with a limestone or something to keep the dust down. The past few years, I have been getting some rock fro La Ash out of Sulpher, La. This stuff is awesome. Its lighter than limestone, covers more per ton, and is quite a bit cheaper. Once its packed it pretty much turns hard like cement.

Yeah, it is dusty at first. After a few good rains it locks in. Top dressing it with limestone is ideal.

I like the Ash product as a base it is cheaper and easier to deal with.
I would dress or blue top with limestone or something similar.

Think LA 1 between Larose and Grand isle in some areas has Ash as a base.

LA Ash is good people in the Sulphur area to deal with.
