Space Station Flyby
Just saw the ISS do a flyby almost directly overhead. It was visible for about 5 minutes from Southwest to Northeast.

Not going to happen, you can sometimes see it pretty good with a good pair of Binoculars. I have an app on my phone that sends an alarm 5 minutes before it passes, then when you go outside you look at your phone and it has an arrow to point where to look. Called ISS Detector, I have another app called Droid Sky View, you can do a search and it will point to constellations. You can also point it a star and it will tell you what star it is. Last night you could see Venus, Mercury and Mars. They were all in one area. |
I saw it fly over head about a month ago while I was offshore. Was a pretty cool thing to see.

Does it fly over again tonight
|
Saw it fly a few times out in the Mediterranean and the North Arabian Sea. No lights at all out there. Wish I could have had my phone on the flight deck but that's a big no no at night especially during night ops.
Really cool sight when you get to see it against a pitch black sky. |
