VBay Fishing Trends?

I've been fishing VBay for the past few years but up until now, I had never caught as many stingrays and jack crevalles (hope I spelled it right). Is this normal? Just wondering and wanting to catch some reds and specks. Thanks in advance for any input.

I've been fishing it for 8-10 yrs I think, and I've never caught a sting ray or jack. You must have found the "spot" lol

My son caught a big sting ray last friday while fishing the worm.

Salinity might be higher, causing the jacks to move further in.

Thank you. I was thinking that I had special shrimp bait or technique that attracted more "trash" fish than the normal fisherman. Lol. I was actually on the Weeks Bay side near the Trash Pile and Acadiana Nav Channel. I feel a little better now.:)

Girlfriend caught a baby jack at the mouth of Avery a couple of weeks ago. That was a first for me in the bay.

Its definately due to the salinity change.

They are already in the bay, just not thick yet. Give it two weeks or a couple fronts and it will be on.

vittok 09-19-2013 10:08 PM

I'll be ready for them (specks) when more of them come in the bay. Lol.

MattMigues 09-20-2013 09:02 AM

They're in the bay, just spotty, find the bait and trout are there... Just have to figure what they want, it's been a finicky bite. It'll happen soon
