They fish mini Coon Pops vertically in Boca Grande Pass with circle hooks. My question is how on earth do you snag a tarpon with a circle hook?

I was looking for the picture to post but cannot find it, They use a large jighead with a circle hook directly on top of it, pretty much just reeling up and snagging the fish whether they want to eat the lure or not.

Forgive my ignorance but arent tarpon a non edible fish? If thats the case I dont see the big deal about how the fish is hooked if its just going to be released. Im sure the fish could give a F less wether the hook is in his mouth or not. End result is the same for him. Not trying to start a pi$$Ing contest with die hard tarpon guys so please dont take it that way. If there is something I dont know about the issue I would be glad to learn.

Again, how exactly does one snag any fish, much less a tarpon with a circle hook?

Oh I have snagged hundreds of pounds of catfish in red river. It was a completely different set up though. Used a dual treble hook set up. The treble hooks had a circumference about the size of a tennis ball. Bigger hooks cover more water and increased your odds of snagging a fish. Not sure how that would work with a single circle hook though. Poorly I would think.
